La Janada : Feu de la Saint-Jean

Originally, La Janada, or fire of Saint John, celebrated the summer solstice which corresponded to the end of the harvest. Come and take part in this event which dates back to the dawn of time!
For more than forty years, under the leadership of the Occitan Rochegude Center, it has been a large festive gathering.

In the programme :
at 18 p.m., the “ressèga” a dance stroll proposed by the Conservatory of Traditional Music of Tarn will liven up the streets of the city center. Between 18:30 p.m. and 20:30 p.m. Occitan ball hosted by the “BrindAir Òc” group and night market. From 21 p.m. to 22:25 p.m., the women's group “Peldrut” will perform original compositions and rewritten traditional Occitan songs. On the Place du Vigan, the traditional torchlight procession of children from Occitan schools, preceding the consuls, will leave at 22:30 p.m. towards Place Sainte-Cécile for the kissing of the fire to music with the “Sonaires d’Òc” and the “Companyons of Orfée. » Then, it’s time for the traditional ball hosted by “BrindAir Òc. »
