Albi

Albi, la Cité épiscopale classée au Patrimoine mondial UNESCO

Located 45 minutes from Toulouse, 20 minutes from Cordes-sur-Ciel, Albi asserts itself as an authentic city by the color of the omnipresent brick, by the power of the Episcopal City listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, by the reception of the Albigenses.
Albi is part of the collection of the 40 Great Sites of Occitanie, located 45 minutes from Toulouse, 20 minutes from Cordes-sur-Ciel.

Installed on a promontory on the banks of the Tarn, Albi can be proud of its rich historical heritage with in particular:
– Sainte-Cécile Cathedral: the only cathedral in the world built entirely of bricks
– the Palais de la Berbie, sumptuous Bishops’ palace, today home to the Toulouse-Lautrec museum, an internationally renowned museum;
– the cloister and the Saint-Salvi collegiate church, wonders of the historic center
– the Pont-vieux, built in 1040, the oldest in France.

It seduces with its lilting accent, its colorful markets where local products attract the eye as much as the taste buds. Along the Tarn, a hiking trail in the heart of the town follows the banks for 4 kilometers. The streets of Vieil-Alby reveal to the curious half-timbered facades, elaborate doors, secret backyards and numerous redeveloped squares ideal for relaxation, fountains and refreshing water jets.

A cultural city, it turns towards the brand new Cordeliers district. The Grand Théâtre is the symbol, it was designed by the famous architect Philippe Perraut. From the top of the belvedere there is a breathtaking panoramic view of the roofs of Old Alby.

To see/to do: Heritage circuits, the Fashion Museum, the Lapérousele Museum Center d'Art le LAIT, the Raphaël Cordoba space, rides on the little train, barges, the remarkable gardens, the Echappée verte circuit of urban hiking, guided tours…
