Summer exhibition – David Coste

See you from July 25 to August 26, 2023 from Tuesday to Saturday from 15 p.m. to 19 p.m.
Free. All ages Accessible to people with reduced mobility

This summer, the Le Lait art center invites the artist David Coste to Albi for an exhibition in two stages: in the public space and in the fridge.

“The islands also travel? “

David Coste invests the Pratgraussals leisure center and banks of the Tarn, in Albi, at the foot of the Palais de la Berbie. He creates an course in these green spaces in the heart of the city, a wandering conducive to a narration in several stages. Its constructions borrow from the motif of the island. Shelters, perched huts and panels evoke the Robinsonade, these tales of adventure in nature and independent living. The island, a space marked by isolation, reveals our capacities for survival, but also our social organization and our education. His constructions, covered with printed images, are so many screens, assemblies, which establish an ambiguous relationship with their natural environment, which in the end turns out to be decor. The black and white drawings, fragments of landscapes, remind us of the places crossed and take on a cinematographic dimension.

In the fridge, located at 9 rue Bonne Cambe in downtown Albi. The installations and drawings presented during the summer echo the works exhibited outside. The virtuoso drawings of David Coste unfold on the walls but also in the exhibition space. We find there the landscapes that the artist traveled in Albi but also the imagination of the desert island, the precarious raft, the passage of time... The art center offers plastic arts workshops with graphite and charcoal in free access in the exhibition: they are practicable during the opening hours of the exhibition by young and old. Come experience them!
