The treasure of the cathedral is unveiled in the rooms set up in the old stronghold dating from the end of the XNUMXth century of the Sainte-Cécile cathedral. Many objects from the XNUMXth to the XNUMXth century make up this religious treasure. Two rooms with a refined and modern graphic style present a new scenography enhancing the sacred art furniture.
Access to the treasure rooms is at the level of the Great Choir of the cathedral. A spiral staircase leads to two spaces, recently renovated: the XNUMXth century medieval room, vaulted in brick, and the “modern” room, the former sexton's house.

In the first room, reliquaries, chalices, shrines... have found their place alongside major pieces:
- the polyptych “The Virgin and Child” and its painted wooden panels. (XIV century)
- le facsimile of the “Mappa Mundi”, precious testimony to the history of humanity and the world as it was perceived in the XNUMXth century. Its uniqueness is that it is the oldest parchment document representing the world. The Mappa Mundi echoes the preponderant place of the scriptorium of Albi, whose very beautiful manuscripts are preserved in the Amalric media library.
Also to discover…
- a wooden chest decorated with medieval paintings (one of the rare paintings on wood from the XNUMXth century)
- a reliquary in rolled paper.
- relics of saints, including the patroness of the cathedral, of course: Sainte-Cécile.
A few steps higher, is the second room and its resplendent windows:
- liturgical vestments and vestments
- sculptures
- reproduction of the Entombment of Monestiès
Worthy of note is the embroidery work, in particular gold thread embroidery, carried out by former sisters of the Sainte-Claire de Millau monastery.
