From the districts of Vieil Alby which wrap around the Cathedral, the discovery continues down to the banks of the Tarn, this river which separates the city into 2 banks. The old mills, the Pont Vieux and beyond… the district at the end of the bridge is now the Madeleine district. From this bank of the Tarn, the panoramic view which opens onto the Episcopal City and the rooftops of Vieil Alby is breathtaking.

History page
Albi becomes in the Middle Ages an essential crossing point of trade routes and it is thanks to the construction in 1040 of what is now called "Old Bridge", that this new district is born.
Cap del Pont
Le suburb of Cap del Pont will accommodate plants needing space and using the force of eau : mills, brickyards, tanneries, dyeworks. Moreover, you can still see these superb brick buildings on the banks of the river. There were also craftsmen: weaver, draper, tailor, master saddler, cooper, innkeeper, etc.

For the record
For the anecdote, the Hostellerie de la Vache Rouge hosted Christophe Moucherel who stayed in Albi during the installation of the Grand Orgue in the Sainte-Cécile cathedral.
