Introduce yourself and tell us about your background?
I introduce myself Nicolas Depinois, store manager Black Mountain Canvases. We have been present in Albi for 7 years and we opened our new store in June 2021, much larger with a surface area of 180m² because before we were located rue du Plancat in a smaller space of 37m². It is ideally located in one of the busiest streets in Albi, rue de Verdusse linking the Albi Grand Theater to the Sainte-Cecile Cathedral.
50% of our sales are made online.
In this store, 80m² are devoted to sales, then the rest is devoted to the Workshop part, design of packages to be sent from our website, tailor-made packages, a photo/video studio and the reserve. We can do everything from the workshop here and what's nice is that people can see us working from the store.
Les Toiles de la Montagne Noire, a family story
We are a fabric manufacturer based in Labastide de Rouairoux near Mazamet at the foot of the Montagne Noire. My parents manufacture in Labastide de Rouairoux and I joined them 12 years ago in the adventure because I wanted to develop sales to individuals, before we only addressed professionals. The company is now 25 years old. We first opened a first store in Graulhet, then Puygouzon and now Albi. We manufacture, manufacture and sell the product whether in person or even on the internet.
We offer fabric by the meter and then we cut them and we do everything that is finished products: table linens, house linens, kitchen linens (tablecloths, tea towels, napkins, etc.) We mainly make stripes and checks because historically in Mazamet we made a lot of wool around the canvases for the mattresses brought up to date. We also adapt our creations to the season and the color shades vary. We also offer a lot of plaids in cotton/wool or pure/wool with only natural materials, we work with the spinning mill of the park in Brassac. The advantage we have is that we can offer custom orders according to demand. In the summer we will offer deckchair canvases or complete deckchairs. We released a new range of beach towels available in 2 sizes and 6 colors.

You should know that we go on the internet thanks to our shops and vice versa. We have a lot of customers who come to the store and who have already spotted their products upstream and vice versa after discovering our products in the store, they come back from vacation and order. The confinement also pushed people to order on our site, so we developed it thoroughly. We launched into the video to present our products, some tutorials to explain and show what we can do with our fabrics. You can find us on Facebook, Instagram et Youtube.
