The European Night of Museums is organized by the Ministry of Culture.
It is placed under the patronage of the Council of Europe, the French National Commission for UNESCO and ICOM (International Council of Museums).

Initiated by the Ministry of Culture, the “Museum Night” event, which has succeeded, since 2005, the “Museum Spring”, takes place each year on a Saturday in May, at the same time as the “Museum Day”. International Museums” of ICOM.
For one night, between sunset and 1 a.m., the public is invited to discover free of charge, in an unusual, festive and fun way, the riches of the museums of France, as well as those of around thirty countries. 'Europe.
Each participating establishment designs an event bringing together the talent of artists, professionals or volunteers from diverse backgrounds. Each one highlights, in an original way, its collections (Fine arts, modern art, ethnography, archaeology, popular traditions, etc.) by offering activities, aimed at all audiences.
On the program: temporary exhibitions, guided thematic tours, musical tours, meetings, readings of texts, concerts, tastings, demonstration of know-how, aperitif/buffet, historical reconstructions, lighting, cinema screenings, etc.
So that everyone, alone, with family, with friends, can create their own journey and discover the nocturnal magic of the museums, during a night full of surprises.
