Does eco-design speak to you?

Applied to digital, it is a multi-step approach characterized by a global vision of the environmental impacts of the devices digital. It is a question, for example, of developing in their entirety platforms and tools that consume less energy and are more respectful of the environment.

The environmental impact of digital is not neutral!

Digital technology alone represents 3 to 4% of greenhouse gas emissions in the world, i.e. a balance 1.5 times greater than air transport!

In France, it represents 2,5% of greenhouse gas emissions, and this figure could increase by 60% by 2040, to reach 6,7%.

By reducing, from its design, the environmental impact of our website.

Why eco-design our website?

As you will have understood, eco-designing a website is one of the many levers to be activated to limit our environmental impact linked to digital technology... and applied to the field of tourism and etourism, this challenge is all the greater!

While we consider that a destination website requires a complete overhaul every 4 to 5 years in order to follow the functional and graphic evolutions of digital, the planned obsolescence of digital devices is a fact that should not be forgotten! Each overhaul has a significant impact on our energy consumption by mobilizing many resources.

To offer you the most qualitative and immersive content during your navigation, we are also doubling our ingenuity to provide you with interactive tools, and to share with you our most beautiful multimedia content. HD visuals, videos, road-trips, interactive cartography… Nothing is too good for you to discover the beauties of our territory… But this represents an environmental impact that should not be overlooked.

To each problem, its solutions! Finding the right compromise between performance and environmental impact was at the heart of our thinking and our work when we embarked on this process.

Our concrete solutions

The continuous evolution of our website

In order to significantly postpone the need to overhaul our digital system, we sought a technical and functional solution capable of circumventing the planned obsolescence of our destination site.

Accompanied by our digital communications consultancy, we have chosen to develop our new digital device according to the concept of continuous evolution. Innovative and resolutely in tune with the times, this strategy has enabled us to completely rethink the design of our website, which now benefits from an extended lifespan thanks to regular upgrades and developments.

By keeping the same base, fed twice a year with new functionalities and technical, ergonomic and design improvements, we are thus optimizing the mobilization of digital resources hitherto dedicated to redesigns.

The integration of an eco-mode

The destination site you are currently browsing is equipped with an eco-mode!

Perhaps you have noticed it: a curious switch has invited itself to the top of your web page. The most seasoned or the most daring will no doubt have already activated this eco-mode, but for the most skeptical, here are some explanations that will make you adopt this new browsing habit.

Integrated into our site, eco-mode automatically adapts the operation and display of our pages so that they respond to energy saving issues. As soon as it is activated, the page you are browsing is automatically reloaded using a streamlined interface!

What actually happens?

Everything is thought out to achieve a more rational use of digital resources. Removal of the page header image, display of maps or videos only on request (when you click on “Show map” or “Show video”), removal of animations… Everything is implemented to reduce the loading of multimedia content and lighten the operation of your page to make it less energy-intensive.

Because we also like to give you concrete figures, eco-mode also gives you access to information relating to the energy savings made throughout your navigation.

Thanks to a algorithm provided by Ademe, a CO2 meter integrated on your pages displays in real time the energy savings made by using eco-mode while browsing. This information is also converted in a fun way into kilometers traveled (by TGV or combustion engine car) or the time it takes to light a bulb!

Of course, you can also choose to view your pages in the traditional way by simply reducing this toolbar, and to activate and deactivate the eco-mode at any time during your navigation on the site.
