At the gates of Albi, the hills have kept their rural character. Between woods and fields, a small building testifies to a rurality inscribed in time: low stone walls, crossroads, wells, millstones or shelter sheds for the little owl.

Description
The signs of everyday life
There is no path, no path without history. Everyone has their landmarks, milestones, beacons... Sometimes it's water: a washhouse of worn stone, a fountain sculpted in the image of a legend, a more prosaic drinking trough, a spring in the name of a fairy or place. It is often the mark of remembrance: a profane cross bearing the memory of a fatal accident, of a deceased person once happy to be there, of a child shot down on other "glorious" paths. It is also the religious imprint: crowd of Cathar and Catholic crosses, Calvaries and steles... Each landmark is part of the walker's daily life. He sometimes hangs his jacket or his bag there, sits down to devour a snack or simply take a breather, reassures himself that he is on the right track.
