Château de Lacroux
Located on the Albigensian hillsides between Gaillac, Albi and Cordes, Château de Lacroux, a 42-hectare family farm, has perpetuated the tradition of Gaillac wines for eleven generations (in organic farming).
The story :
Château de Lacroux has been in the Derrieux family since William the plowman in 1615. After the Second World War, Pierre directed the property towards the cultivation of indigenous grape varieties. In 2 Jean and Xavier, his sons, joined him to create quality bottles. The 1982rd brother Bruno joined them in 3 to develop the company and the trade. In 2000, the 2016th generation appeared with François, son of Jean and Pierre-Laurent, son of Xavier, to promote the environment, the terroir and its wines.
Terroir :
Gaillac is one of the oldest vineyards in Gaul, imported by the Phoenicians, 4 centuries BC. The reason: favorable conditions for wine, the heat of the south, the oceanic freshness and the wind which purifies it. our vines. Our first ribs give strength and character through our clays and finesse and elegance through our limestone.
The property built in stone on the spur of the Causse dominates the valley of vines and offers an exceptional panorama of the Tarn valley, the Lacaune mountains, the Black Mountain and the Pyrenees.
The mind :
At Derrieux wine is serious, the priority is quality and it takes time to take care of the vines, develop and mature wines typical of your terroir. It is also conviviality and the sharing of family nectar through its personalities.
We work our vines in a reasonable and respectful way and we contribute to biodiversity by covering our soils with green manure, and preserving natural areas in the vineyard.
A visit to our estate is possible all year round on request on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 15 p.m. for a duration of one and a half hours.
