Exposition « Histoire, Sport & Citoyenneté ». Des Jeux Olympiques d’Athènes 1896 aux Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de Paris 2024.

Monday September 02
Departmental Archives of Tarn 1 avenue de la Verrerie 81000 Albi
After centuries of eclipse, the Olympic Games were symbolically reborn in Greece, in Athens, in 1896. Through 30 Olympic Games and 15 Paralympic Games, CASDEN Banque Populaire offers to highlight extraordinary stories of athletes.
The “History, Sport & Citizenship” exhibition highlights 30 exceptional destinies (individual or collective), in 30 Olympiads – one or two personalities per Olympiad from 1896 to the present day – with, each time, a human commitment which becomes the symbol of a strong value and allows us to better understand a historical moment.
The idea for the public and visitors is to delve into the history of each Olympics — each time showing the political and geopolitical issues of each game, the questions linked to inequalities between peoples, the slow feminization, but also in recounting sporting exploits, highlighting the great champions -, highlighting the destiny of a champion both in terms of a story to be discovered and exceptional image archives.

Event proposed as part of the 2024 departmental cultural meetings “Movements, when sport and culture team up”.
