The Pause Guitare 2024 Festival invites you from July 2 to 7 for a new edition in Albi. With more than 65 spectators, this festival in Tarn is one of the biggest events of the summer.
When asked for an image to describe his latest record, Alyosha spontaneously responds: “the sea. The Mediterranean, in Greece, where I composed and wrote most of the songs on this album…”.
Exiled to Athens for six months of filming, Alyosha is far from the one he loves. Close to the sea and the blue sky. Between takes, he composes. For the first time in French, he tells what goes through his heart with his unique voice, where fragility mixes with elegance. Like this entire record, which oscillates between joyful sensitivity and sexy melancholy.
It all starts far from the Mediterranean, however, in Quebec. Alyosha's parents left Paris for a change of scenery, to go on an adventure. Canada welcomes this family of artists. The father is a dancer, the brothers do everything. But music plays a separate role. Like a secret communications channel between Alyosha and Vadim, his older brother. A language just for them. He
gives him his first records and showers him with YouTube clips. Alyosha then dreams of being a pop star.
He started singing at 10, and took his first guitar lessons at 13. The more he progressed in music, the more school bored him. He began writing his own songs, first in English.
“English is more instinctive for me” explains Alyosha. “And I listen to a lot of English music.”
Then comes the meeting with Jean Leloup, his song godfather, who pushes him towards the studio. His first record, Eleven Songs, was produced by Samy Osta (La Femme, Feu Chatterton). Alyosha celebrates his folk influences from Dylan to Eliott Smith. Eleven Songs, very noticed, made him recognized and offered him his first live experiences (Fnac Live, Les Inrocks festival, La Boule Noire). It makes
with a second disc, Naked, where the raw sounds push him to lay bare, to reveal his darkest sides.
In 2020, to counter the rest forced by the pandemic, Alyosha tried a new exercise: he translated one of his pieces into French. This gives That's all, that's nothing. A first attempt very well received, which pushes him to continue. First an EP. Then a whole disc. “It’s real extra work for me to write in French. But when I get there, what comes out is even more
strong, even more intimate. »
As if in French, Alyosha opened up more — about love, long-distance relationships, desires and dreams. Pushed by his new producer, the Canadian Marc-André Gilbert (Charlotte Cardin, Ariane Moffat), and the influences they share (Mac Miller, Rodrigo Amarante, Shuggie Otis), Alyocha tries other sounds, other compositions: an almost Hawaiian guitar, a
island harmony, solar choirs… All revealed by the mix of Mark 'Spike' Stent (Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles)
Album planned for fall 2023, on the Local label.
