Le Grand Théâtre des Cordeliers

The Grand Théâtre has become an unmissable stop on the Vieil Alby / Rochegude Park promenade, a highly coveted place to relax in the city center.
Places of shows, concerts but also places of congresses and seminars, the Grand Théâtre can be visited. It offers a panoramic view of the Albigensian rooftops. A panoramic terrace, partly occupied by a restaurant offers a breathtaking view of Albi and allows you to spend a convivial moment at any time of the day from breakfast to a drink in the evening.

On the large esplanade, where we stroll, children ride bikes or skateboards. Benches, green spaces, water fountains invite you to have a good time.

The Théâtre les Cordeliers is the new emblematic site of a city steeped in history but also resolutely turned towards the future. The iridescent color is reminiscent of brick, a typically Albigensian material. It is to the architect Dominique Perrault that we owe this new cultural district which forms the link between the university center and the historic center. The Cordelier project is for the architect “the inverted cathedral, the color on the outside, the brick on the inside”

Hearing impairment

The rooms of the Grand Théâtre d'Albi and the SNA-Tarn Cinema are equipped with magnetic loops giving access to sound amplification for people fitted with position T. In other places (along the Tarn, Athanor, etc.), on certain shows, an individual magnetic loop can be provided (information and reservations from the SNA-Tarn team).

The Théâtre de la Scène Nationale is equipped with Twavox: this equipment makes it possible to broadcast directly on a smartphone application: the audio description elements of the films or a personalized audio track (volume, equalizer) or the subtitles (VF or SME) .

The National Stage offers an adaptation of shows and visits in LSF (Sign Language) and organization of a cinema-sign evening where the SNA-Tarn Cinema offers films with SME subtitling followed by a time for discussion and meetings at the end with an LSF interpreter.

Physical disability

Wheelchair accessible building.

10 places for people with disabilities are available in the Cordeliers car park (with lift) close to the Grand Théâtre and the Cinema.

Visual impairment

The National Stage offers:

– shows in audio description: using headphones, the description of the visual elements of the show (sets, costumes, movements, etc.) helps enrich listening and nourish the imagination.
On-demand transport service: for performances in audio description, the LibéA network of the Albigensian Agglomeration Community provides an on-demand transport service, free of charge upon registration.

– The Scène Nationale team also advises you on partially accessible shows where the text and/or music predominate.

– tactile models are available for free access to allow spectators to explore the model of the Grand Théâtre d'Albi by touch and to understand the space and architecture of the place.

Mental handicap

The National Stage team is able to recommend shows accessible to people with mental or psychological disabilities.
